We are not shy about saying that some tour experiences can be physically demanding. If you imagine sitting on a bus and watching the country pass you by through panes of glass, Sloan Tours may not be for you.
We hike, walk, and move throughout our trip. However, unless noted, our trips do not require extensive experience or training in hiking. And we lay our our tours to try and balance physical excursion with rest and recharging. If ever, you are concerned about the level of physical activity, feel free to reach out to our team. The beautiful part of our tours is that there are extensive opportunities for you to explore at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Note: Aside from the overall activity score for this tour, the itinerary will hold a daily activity rating. When judging the activity level of each day, we examine the essential elements of length, elevation gains, and the way types (paved vs. natural). All these elements determine the level of activity for each phase. We distinguish activity levels on a five-star rating from easy to moderate, intermediate, challenging, and very challenging. -
Edinburgh, Fort William, and Inverness are among the most notable cities on tour.
What’s Included?
-

To allow for greater flexibility, cultural variety, and the unique timing of our daily activities, not all meals are pre-planned. This gives you the chance to explore local fare on your own while still enjoying thoughtful, nourishing meals together as a group.
Vegetarian options are available for most group meals. Gluten-free options are generally available as well, though we strongly encourage guests with dietary restrictions or food intolerances to inform us in advance. If you have specific health-related needs, we recommend packing a few snacks or backup options to ensure comfort and consistency throughout your trip.

-

Your tour package includes two airport transfers for your convenience:
Arrival transfer: Departing the airport at 10:00 AM on the morning the tour begins.
Departure transfer: Leaving your accommodation around 7:00 AM on the final day of the tour.
For guests opting to arrive a day early with our Day Zero option, please note that while the standard departure transfer on the final morning remains included, you will be responsible for arranging your airport transfer upon arrival.
Additionally, if there is a better time for airport arrival on departure day, we are only 15 minutes from the airport, and taxis can be arranged. -
Flights are not included in the cost of your Sloan Tour—for two important reasons.
First, we believe you deserve the freedom to choose the most direct, convenient, and comfortable route to Edinburgh, tailored to your own schedule and preferences. Group airfare often limits that flexibility.
Second, bulk airfare purchases rarely benefit the traveler. While many companies mark up group rates for their own gain, we’d rather empower you to find the best deal possible.
That said, we’re here to help. Our team is happy to assist you in finding and booking flights that meet your needs. We’ll even scout options on your behalf. If you’d prefer to explore on your own, we recommend starting with Google Flights to compare routes and track prices with ease.
-
We recommend that guests consider the purchase of travel insurance prior to departure. A comprehensive policy can offer valuable peace of mind, covering unforeseen circumstances such as trip delays, medical needs, cancellations, or lost luggage.
More information—including guidance on what to look for in a policy—will be included in your travel packet. If you have questions or would like recommendations, our team is happy to assist.
